All observation by the modifying-consciousness carries a meaning that transcends the observation itself and brings to consciousness a valuation through depiction. A house, for instance, is observed as a structure with four walls, a roof, windows, an entry and so forth. However through the modifying-conscious, it is also a “home,” a “place to live, to retreat.” It is absolute neutrality transformed into an absolute modality; into an instant retrieval of an understanding which, incontrovertibly, lies within the empirical regions of consciousness. Yet, through its own understanding it immediately applies a designation between a “house” and a “home” and thereby presents a valuation which could come only from a modifying-consciousness of reason.
