Virtue destroys individuality. It places upon being the force of its totality and universality and causes self-consciousness to reason “out of itself” so that it no longer possesses the self-interest of nothingness, a reason for clinging to life, but surrenders the lust for the cause of its own impossibility. It thrusts self-consciousness towards the spirit of the universal. Individual being enters the incidental corridor and soon realizes that its fear of death is more a reality than its thirst for life.
