Through its own immediacy, spirit simultaneously detaches itself from its remoteness and makes its appearance in the “now” and becomes its own history of “nows.” It becomes that which it is not into that which it is and, finally, into that which is its possibility of being. It is the mediating of itself that turns it from spirit and into being-in-the-world. It emerges from an unknown nothingness into a known nothingness and into itself as consciousness. And, within its historical essence, Spirit clings to experiences which absolve themselves into a past, but, remain as illusions and metaphors which contract the future by creating new “nows.” Thus, spirit, in its mediated immediacy, becomes a restlessness of infinite movement within the finitude of existence.
